• Thursday 17 May 2007 - "An Inconvenient Truth" with Rosina Sinclair. Al Gore has now trained over a 1000 presenters to carry his message on Climate Change out to the wider world and Rosie is one of them.

• Thursday 21 September 2006 - Good News: Even Healthcare Systems Can Be Healed. Norman Speirs took us through the steps that reveal what is wrong with present systems using Dr Deming identified five Deadly Diseases of management. (Meeting notice)
• Tuesday 14 February 2006 - Karl Buckridge - Goldratt's Theory of Constraints

  There was something of note in Karl's session for everybody. He made some excellent quotes; "The Goal" has been translated into Japanese and is now on sale in Japan and is outselling "Harry Potter". People who are interested in TOC and who have not read "The Goal" should do so. The "paradigm" lock activity with the mirror was refreshingly new and put a spotlight on how one can be unconscious incompetent "The harder one tried the harder it gets". Karl described how you can get results with TOC:

  1. Identify the constraint
  2. Decide how to 'exploit' it.
  3. Subordinate to the above decision
  4. Elevate the constraint
  5. Go back to step one
  And
  1. Everybody must agree what the constraint is
  2. Everybody must agree how we are going to make use of the constraint
  3. Work together as a team 4 Work on removing the constraint - then find the next one
  4. "Do not allow inertia to cause a system's constraint".
  5. "Do not be pre-occupied with the 'cost world': examples given included queues at counters at Boots, Marks and Spencer, empty shelves at Sainsbury's.
  6. "Knowing what is needed to change is not enough - Doing what is needed to change is vital"
